Landslide kills 2 in India’s Tamil Nadu

NEW DELHI, July 30 (Xinhua) — A landslide triggered by incessant rains killed two people Tuesday in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu, officials said.
The accident with the deaths of a woman and her granddaughter occurred on early morning in Sholayar of the state’s Coimbatore district, according to a local government official.
In another development, a man was killed after his house collapsed in Gomangalam of the district due to incessant rains, the official added.
Reports said heavy rains have been going on in parts of Coimbatore district since Monday, triggering landslides at various places.
Officials said trees fell on electric poles at several places, causing power outages in the district. ■
